How accurate are the colors in your images? Color is very important in my home.

It is almost impossible to give a perfect representation of color on a computer monitor, since each is tuned individually. The same image appears differently on each of the monitors in our office! (then too, "Dye Lots" can differ at the Mill) That's why TMAP provides a no quibble, your full price returned, guarantee, even (if the color is just not too your liking) for details, see our Returns and Refunds statement. Of course, you may choose an exchange, if you prefer.

Do you make all of these pillows at your own workroom in Cleveland, TN?

No. We do the Custom or "Customer's Own Material" (COM) work here in Cleveland, but in order to handle the widest possible selection and variety, the "stock" items are woven and sewn as described on the actual product pages. For example our Tapestry Collection is woven and sewn in North Carolina, USA.

So then, am I right in assuming that you do custom pillows too?

Yes. Making COM custom decorative pillows is how we got started in this business, back in 1979.
Here's how it works today. First, connect by e-mail with our workroom so that they can assign you a place in line. Then, you select the fabrics that are just right. At this point you may send the fabrics or send a small cutting of them and a sketch or picture along with a description of what you want, to our workroom/office address. Either way, we will get back in touch with you by e-mail or phone with a quote and an estimate of when the job can be finished. We emphasis estimate because our custom work is done on a First Come First Served basis AND it is difficult to know what tomorrow will bring.
If you always get on the slow line at the grocery store or the bank (like me) then, you might get behind someone with a complicated order here, too. In our experience, the best way to handle this is to tell you, in advance, where you are in the line and how long that line looks like it will take, at the time of your inquiry. Still, our primary directive is FCFS

I can't find the fabric pages. Where do you sell fabric?

We don't. That's why they call it Customer's Own Material. It's really a matter of division of labor. We need to keep busy with the work that only we can do, namely, making remarkable decorative pillows to your specifications. Your job is to get the fabric or have your Interior Designer select a fabric for you. Then send the cuttings and description and follow the rest of the instructions outlined in the step above~

I like [a particular pillow] but I'm worried about the color. What if the color doesn't look good in my home?

There is NO WAY to really show colors accurately on any computer monitor. Monitors (and TV screens) are simply not consistent. THEREFORE, you may return any pillow for a full refund of the purchase price. Look at our discussion of this on our Return/Refund page.

What about "RUSH" orders?

I promise, we ARE rushing as much as we can with custom work. There is a fine balance to be kept. Quality comes first. Your place in line comes second (remember: FCFS). The only way you can be sure that I have not let anyone "cut in line" ahead of you with their "rush order" is to prevent everyone from "cutting ahead in line". That way all the work is done on a First Come First Served basis and everyone is as happy as can be. (all workrooms know this, but they just don't like to say it.) In our experience something suffers when we rush beyond our already busy schedule, so we don't do it. That's how much we care about quality at ThrowMeAPillow!

What is the expected delivery time for "stock" items?

Our "stock answer" it this: All orders are processed by the next regular business day (M-F) after they are received. Tapestry pillows, Made in USA, If they are in stock, should be received within 7 days, if they happen to be out of stock, then expect it to take 2-3 weeks. If a stock item is "out of stock" we will inform you of that BEFORE we process your order. Needlepoint Pillows always take 15-21 business days. These are imported directly for you and DHL overseas shipping, while relable, can take a bit longer

Wouldn't it be quicker if you stocked the Asian pillows at your warehouses here in the USA?

Quicker? Yes. More efficient? No. Our way puts more money in the pockets of the Asian Artisans whose families go back centuries in the business of hand-making products for palaces (like yours). That's part of our deal with them. You both benefit from removing the middleman.

I'm new to shopping online, but I've made many Credit Card purchases by phone. Is there a way I can order by phone?

We have phone banks set up for Customer Service and Sales which operate from 9:00 am til 10:00 pm (EST) You may call there, 423-780-9600 and place your order same as you would with any catalog, however great strides have been made in the past few years and Throw Me A Pillow has selected PayPal as their gateway for Secure Socket Layer transactions. That choice keeps us on the cutting edge of online security. You may transact business on our website with equal or greater confidence, compared with "phoning it in" Please Click on the "Contact" Navigation Button on our Header (above)to find our Toll Free Number

Why do you say, "All pillow sizes are approximate"? Don't you know what you're doing?

It's not sloppy workmanship or being unaware of what we're doing that causes us to say that all pillow sizes are approximate. It's just a lot easier than explaining things, BUT since this qualifies as an especially Frequently Asked Question, please consider that the standard width for upholstery fabric is 54". (Some run as wide as 60" and 56" is not uncommon. HOWEVER, no one complains if their product is "greater than advertised")

Anyway... Half of a 54" width has a cut size of about 27". Thus you can deduce that the FINISHED size (sewn, but unstuffed) is something like 26". Stuffing a pillow pushes the face and back away from each other () which simultaenously draws the sewn edges, INWARD. Putting a stiff yardstick across the middle of the 27" pillow (which finishes 26") might cause some people to think they have a 24" or 25" pillow. (We call this phenomenon, "Swell", because it describes the pillow faces swelling, but also because, THAT's what we say to ourselves when this question comes up!) >swell<

We recommend you use a tape measure and allow for seams, and NOW you know why, in the trade, we say, "All Pillow sizes are approximate." The CUT SIZE is probably very well know, but the finished size, as you can see, is another matter! Of course a 2x4 at the lumber yard STARTS 2" x 4" but finishes smaller...

[To return to product, "X" out of this window]

SO when we split a 54" width of fabric in two, we call it a 27" pillow. Fifty-four inches divided by three yields three pieces eighteen inches wide, That explains why so many of our tapestry pillows finish 17 x 17. Like the 27" pillows, sometimes, within the trade, we call those 18" pillows. (remember; the 2x4).

Of course the tassel trim adds another few inches. But that's enough technical jargon. Your primary concern will be that these Euros... finish... your home decor! Perfectly

Why are all the "close up" pictures embosed with "ThrowMeAPillow". Is that supposed to be subliminal advetising?

No. They are just a "copyright" precaution. We have taken these pictures with our Nikon Coolpix 800 1 MB digital camera, just as you might have taken them yourself. Usually we used not flash, on a few, we used flash and the color on these few, looks a little "washed out". The images were not "touched up", they are regular pillows, taken from stock. Occassionally you may notice that I DID try my hand at "MSPaint" to remove the "do not remove under penaly of law" tags, from sight, but I'm no artist!
